Rhiannon Pendant

This design represents Rhiannon, Queen of Annwn (the Celtic Otherworld). She was accompanied in legends by three magical birds whose song placed a magical spell on any mortals who heard it, transporting them to the land of Annwn.

In the Welsh Mabinogion legends the birds are unseen, but in the Irish tales they are brightly coloured and feed from a special otherworld apple tree.
